Kristin Metcalfe
Dr. Kristin Metcalfe is an accomplished company director and principal environmental scientist at EcoScience NT, with four decades of experience in vegetation ecology in the Northern Territory. She has led and delivered numerous flora studies, vegetation mapping, and environmental impact and monitoring projects, with a particular focus on tropical mangrove ecosystems. Kristin possesses detailed knowledge and extensive experience in mangrove ecology and management. Additionally, she has completed post-graduate research on mangrove productivity and doctoral studies on biodiversity, recovery from disturbance and rehabilitation of mangroves in Darwin Harbour. Her academic achievements underscore her experience in environmental science and highlight her ability to conduct comprehensive research and analysis. Kristin is passionalte about mangrove ecology and dedicated to advancing education and research on mangrove ecosystems, which is integral to conservation of these vital habitats.
Adam J Bourke
Adam Bourke, senior scientist with EcoScience has a Masters degree in mangrove ecology and 12+ years of experience as an environmental consultant. His expertise in mangrove ecology and monitoring draws from his professional background and builds on post graduate studies on the impacts of boardwalks on mangrove fauna. He has been involved in a large number of major mangrove assessment and scientific monitoring projects conducted by EcoScience in Darwin Harbour and participated in a diverse range of mangrove research projects across the Top End. Adam is well known for his exemplary fieldwork, has extensive laboratory experience and is highly skilled in invertebrate taxonomy and photography. Adam’s experience in major biodiversity surveys extends to Groote Island, the Gulf of Carpentaria, Timor Leste, Indonesia and New Caledonia. He is a dedicated research scientist and is writing several publications on mangrove invertebrates. Adam holds a RePL and is an experienced RPAS operator specializing in remote sensing in mangrove habitats. He is rapidly expanding his knowledge of aerial mapping, image processing and GIS analysis and will complete a Graduate Certificate in Spatial Science in 2023.
Carmen Walker
Carmen Walker is a consultant environmental scientist at EcoScience NT, with over a decade of experience in Northern Australia. She joined the EcoScience team in 2012 as a field biologist and throughout her work has demonstrated outstanding field skills and a strong understanding of vegetation ecology and botany. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in environmental management and has participated in a diverse range of research and technical projects across the Top End. Her expertise includes field surveys for flora and weed assessments, university research programs on terrestrial and blue carbon sequestration, ground truthing for vegetation mapping and GIS projects for the NT Government. Carmen has also played an integral role in a major mangrove rehabilitation project and numerous mangrove assessment and monitoring projects in Darwin Harbour.
